The Express Entry System was launched on January 1, 2015 by CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada).

The Express Entry System is the latest point based immigration system of CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) that has been designed to make the selection process of immigrants under Economic Immigration Program of Canada, faster, smoother, and better. As per the system, interested candidates, create the profile and submit online EOI (Expression of Interest) in the System. The CIC chooses and accepts the candidates in the Express Entry pool, based on their CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score and subsequently issue the invitations to selected candidates for Permanent Residency in Canada. The Express Entry System also aims to choose the right candidates in order to meet the labor market requirements in Canada.

The Express Entry Profile is the profile applicants create online on EE System for Canada Immigration, mentioning their demographic and other key details, i.e. Qualification, Experience, Age, Language Proficiency, Skills, etc.

The CRS i.e. The Comprehensive Ranking System is the internal ranking system of CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) to choose the best candidates to the Express Entry pool to invite them for Canadian PR. The CRS score of an applicant is the score he achieves is based on his EE Profile details, i.e. Age, Qualification, Experience, Language ability, skills etc.

The Express Entry pool is the pool made for candidates who are found eligible for any of the Canada’s Economic Immigration programs, i.e. Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class Program, or a part of PNP (Provincial Nominee Program). The Federal Government, State Governments, and Employers have the right to select the eligible candidates from the Express Entry Pool for Canada Immigration. The candidates selected from the pool get the invitation to apply for PR visa in Canada.

The Expression of Interest (EOI) is the online request sent by an applicant along with his complete profile details to CIC through Express Entry System that indicates the intention of an applicant in Canada Immigration. Based on the EOI, CIC reviews the candidate’s profile and decides he/she should be accepted to the Express Entry Pool or not.

The Express Entry system of Canada Chooses the right candidates for Canada Immigration for the following programs:

  • Federal Skilled Workers Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Programs
  • Canadian Experienced Class Programs
  • A part of PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) Program

There is no charge or fee for creating an online Express Entry Profile.

An Express Entry Profile often gets expired after 12 months (1 Year). Hence, if your profile does not get selected in 12 months time, you would need to re-submit your existing profile by verifying all the requisite details you mentioned earlier, within 60 days time. If you failed to re-submit your profile within 60 days time, you will have to create a new profile all over again.

The candidates selected in the Express Entry pool, receives the ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Permanent Residency Visa in Canada by CIC.

The ITA is issued to the candidates who have achieved the qualifying score in the Express Entry System and hence, have been accepted to the Express Entry Pool. However, below are the aspects, which mostly boost and enhance your chances of getting an ITA:

  • If you have achieved the minimum qualifying score in any round of invitations of the express Entry System.
  • If you have a job offer from a Canadian Employer and the same is LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) approved.
  • If you have a nomination from a Canadian Province or Territory having the PNP program.

The ITA (Invitation to Apply) for PR visa is generally remains valid for 60 days.

The LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) is a confirmation letter that your Employer needs to get from ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada), in order to authenticate your Canadian job offer.

The immigration process, although is subject to various aspects of candidates document and candidature verification, however, it aims to take six months. This processing time starts after CIC confirms the candidate’s submission of complete online PR application and it end when any decision is taken on the application. However, it can also increase due to the factors, i.e. Candidate’s medical certification delay or LMIA approval, etc

The ECA (Education Credential Assessment) is needed while you are submitting your Express Entry Profile.
