4G Signs Letter of Intent with Zhuanghe City Government, Liaoning
for CDM Projects Development
On Jan. 7-8, 2009, 4G delegation led by Brian Watling, President of 4G visited Zhuanghe City, Liaoning Province, China, at the invitation of Zhuanghe City government. The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Jin Xiaoli, Executive Vice-mayor and Ms. Lv Yanqing, Deputy Chairwoman of the Outstanding Committee of National People’s Congress and Deputy Chief of Zhuanghe Lingang Industrial Zone Management Committee. Discussion on CDM project development in the city was held and a Letter of Intent was signed between the two parties, covering a wide range of opportunities in sectors of wind power, solar PV cell, biomass power generation, waste heat recovery and utilization and landfill gas utilization.
Also present at the meeting were about 20 enterprise executives from various industries of the city who introduced their present situation and expressed desire for cooperation with 4G.
The 2nd Canada-China Business Forum Held in Beijing
On November 3, the 2nd Canada China Business Forum was held in Beijing. Altogether over 600 representatives including more than 200 entrepreneurs with the Canadian Business Leaders Delegation and Chinese entrepreneurs attended the forum that was jointly sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Canada-China Business Council (CCBC).
At the opening ceremony of the forum, about 20 cooperation agreements were signed between the Canadian and Chinese enterprises, including the agreement between Canadian WindFields, Solar and Renewable Energy Corp. (CWF) and Wuhan Liren Investment Co. on biomass power generation projects development in Ontario, Canada. The total value of agreement signed at the forum was about CN$ 600 million. CWF is a brother company of 4G.
The 2nd Canada China Business Forum was successively held in three cities. Besides Beijing, the Canadian delegation also visited Chongqing and Shanghai.
According to the statistics of the China Customs, in 2007, China-Canada trade reached 30.38 billion USD with a year-on-year growth of 31.1%, among which China’s export to Canada took up 19.4 billion and China’s import from Canada 10.98 billion, with a respective growth rate of 25% and 43.3%. From January to August in 2008, China-Canada bilateral trade volume was 22.74 billion USD, increased by 15.1% on a year-on-year base, with export volume 13.82 billion USD,9.8% growth rate and import volume 8.92 billion USD, 24.4 growth rate. In 2007, Canada was China’s eleventh biggest trade partner and China was Canada’s second (following the U.S.). The Canadian enterprises had 265 investment projects in China with 200 million USD actual input and China had 2.76 billion USD direct investment (non-financial) in Canada in 2007.
